The Bulova Story

In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born. Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch.

Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. Excellent Buy and Beautiful Watch

This watch is even more beautiful in person, the soft blue face is very light and very pretty. The diamonds are small but give it just the right amount of sparkle. I have a very small wrist, approx 5.5 and I was able to have the links removed to fit my wrist just perfect. It’s a great watch for a small wrist – the face is not to big or to small. The band is beautiful quality that will wear very well. I love this watch! Stunning quality, goes great with dressy or casual attire.

Love my watch.

I’ve had this watch for 6 yrs. I have changed the battery only once and it has never had an issue with water. I am in nursing and wash my hands a lot. I have gone swimming and showered in it. It is very durable and has even survived my 3 yr old girl. She loves it too and sneaks it to wear in her room. It can go dressy or casual. I have had numerous compliments over the years. It was a very good investment. I paid $300 for it back then. Can’t go wrong with Bulova for an expensive looking watch at a good price.

Great watch

I’ve had this watch for a year now and so far, so good. I wanted something dressy casual. There are little diamonds (fake? not sure) around it but they’re very tiny so you don’t really see them unless you’re looking closely. Also, it’s waterproof but even if I get it wet (washing dishes, hands, etc- NOT showering with it on), little water droplets can get in there. Overall, nice watch. If you want something flashy, this isn’t the one for you.

Maintaining Your Skagen Watch

Ensure that the crown is returned to the normal operating position before the watch comes in contact with water. Do not take your watch into a Hot Tub or Sauna. Under normal conditions, the seals in your Skagen watch will deteriorate and may need to be replaced every 2-3 years. Have your Skagen watch serviced by an official service center.

All Skagen watches operate with standard batteries. When necessary, any jeweler can replace them for you. Different models are water resistant to varying degrees. Please refer to the back of your watch for the water resistant rating.

How To Set The Time And Date
Pull the crown out to the middle position. Rotate the crown to set date Pull the crown out to fully extended position and rotate crown to set desired time. Push the crown back to its normal position. The date and time are now set.

Cleaning Your Skagen Watch
Skagen suggests the following solutions for cleaning metal and crystal surfaces:

3:1 solution of ammonia based window cleaner to water 4:1 solution of rubbing alcohol to water. Do not use soap products.

These suggested solutions will evaporate cleanly from metal and glass surfaces. Soap will leave residue behind when dry.

To clean the case and crystal:
Moisten a soft cloth with one of the above solutions. Gently wipe the case and crystal clean. Be careful not to put too much stress on the crystal as you clean. *NEVER immerse or soak the case/crystal portion of the watch, regardless of water resistance rating. Moisture could seep past the seals over time.

To clean the band or strap:
Skagen soft mesh bands are easily adjustable. Simply insert a small screwdriver or similar tool into the clasp. Lift up the clasp without applying pressure to the thin pin across the clasp and move to desired position. Snap closed securely. Make sure the clasp is set in one of the indentations on the back of the band. Link bands are completely adjustable anywhere watches are serviced.

Skagen suggests the following practices for cleaning metal, rubber and leather surfaces:

Metal watchbands
Dip a cotton swab in the above solution, and gently rub it into the soiled portion of the band. For more intricate mesh bands, you may want to use a soft bristle toothbrush or nailbrush. Be sure to cover the case of the watch during this process so as not to soak it. For stubborn soil, you may want to bring it to a jeweler for a professional cleaning.

Rubber watchstraps
Simply wipe them down with a damp, soft cloth. Avoid soaps and solvents as they may dry or crack the plastic.

Leather watchstraps: Top Grain
Top grain leather can be characterized by its smooth, somewhat shiny appearance. To clean this type of leather, follow the same procedure as with the rubber watchband. Simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth, using water only. You may want to use leather conditioner or a small amount of hand lotion to keep the leather supple over time. Top grain leather may develop a milky "haze" if left alone for extended periods. This can simply be wiped away or removed with leather conditioner.

Leather watchstraps: Nubuck
This is essentially full grain leather with the top layer shaved off, leaving a flat, smooth finish. A product called a "nubuck eraser" can be found at better shoe repair shops. It will help to remove most light stains and debris from nubuck.

Great watch for the money

I’ve had this watch for about 2 years now. I love it because it looks good and feels good on my wrist. I am able to wear it for casual, business, or formal events. Keeps great time and the features are helpful. I don’t think that I will be using it at a depth of 600ft but who knows when I’ll take up scuba diving.

Very Good Watch

I have owned a PRS200 two tone for about three years now. I recently had a partial maintenance service performed to replace the crown, push-buttons, and gaskets as well as have the chrono hands reset. This cost me $80 thru Tissot’s service center in NJ. The service was quick and now my Tissot is back to good working order.

I am very happy with the watch (especially the sapphire crystal) which keeps the watch face completely scratch free. The bracelet and bezel have some scratches but this is normal with a stainless steel bracelet and it actually doesn’t look too bad. I would highly recommend this Tissot watch to anyone. I recently bought my wife a Tissot Ballade Two-Tone Ladies Watch (T39.2.381.23) for an aniversary present and she loves it!

This watch is absolutely beautiful and perfect to accompany other white and/or yellow gold jewellery. Very classy and expensive looking. Reg retail price in Aust $825, 20% off sales $660.00 best price I could find and they wouldn’t budge but picked it up on Amazon for $472.00 in original box and couldn’t be happier.

The Hamilton Story

The Hamilton story is a 120-year road that meanders from Lancaster in the United States to Biel, Switzerland, the world capital of watchmaking. Today, Hamilton is known worldwide thanks to its pioneering role in the worlds of aviation, cinema, as well as electric and digital technology. Hamilton watches have singular shapes that exhibit a perfect pairing of personality and design, which combine American spirit with Swiss ingenuity.

Hamilton was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Its first collection of pocket watches, the Broadway Limited, was known as “The Watch of Railroad Accuracy.”

In 1914, Hamilton was further thrust onto the national scene when it was chosen to be the official watch supplier of the U.S. Armed Forces. In the late teens and early ’20s, pioneer pilots of the era trusted the Hamilton brand for its precision and accuracy and it became the official watch of many airlines in the 1930s.

Hamilton watches could be seen on the silver screen throughout the ’60s and ’70s, most notably a Hamilton Ventura was worn by Elvis Presley in the film, Blue Hawaii.

Very basic 2824-2

A very basic ETA 2824-2 movement watch. Well executed, and I find its 38mm case easily read. The band is well made of heavy, good quality leather that has taken on a classy wrinkled appearance. I find it very similar to one of my Seiko 5 watches, except the 5 is day/date rather than the simpler day format of this Hamilton. I paid $360 for this Hamilton, which is a very fair price for the quality. Much cleaner in real life than what appears in the Amazon picture. If you don’t know much about ETA movements, take the time to search on ETA 2824-2. It’s a very proven and mature workhorse that’s a little more rugged than its fancier cousin the 2892-A2. As a result it gets used in everyday watches, instead of fancier models. That’s reflected in this one – competent, rugged, yet still a bit stylish. I’m not an accuracy fanatic, so the +-12 seconds per day might get noticed in a couple of years, when I’ll simply reset the time. Hamilton says a 40 hour life once wound. No experience with that yet.

The Bulova Story

In 1875, a young Czech immigrant named Joseph Bulova set up shop in New York City, and a legendary American watch brand was born. Bulova was trained as a jeweler, and his expertise carried over into his watchmaking career, which began around 1911 with boudoir clocks and pocket watches, and soon evolved to include what was then one of the latest and most fashionable technological innovations: the wristwatch.

Bulova introduced its first line of wristwatches in 1919. The company grew and prospered, and soon early radio and television ads were declaring, “America runs on Bulova time.” In the 1950s, continuing its legacy of innovation, Bulova introduced Accutron, the first electronic watch, and the first breakthrough in timekeeping technology in over 300 years. Beautiful watch!!

I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He had wanted a black and silver watch with a square face forever, but I could never find one. He loves Buliva watches so when I saw this one I was sold right away. I was scared about buying it online however as we all know some sellers are fraudulent. As a matter of fact I bought a watch from another online store and when it arrived I noticed it was not a Bulova so I was very cautious making this purchase. I had no choice but to take the risk and was very pleasantly surprised. The watch was not only reasonably priced but it was exactly what it said it was!!! I was extremely happy and needless to say so was my husband. I will buy from this seller again especially when I add to my husbands watch collection.

Wife loved the watch

The watch was a birthday present for my wife. She had never worn a watch, saying none of them fit her. We had to take the watch to a jeweler to have the links removed. The watch fits her wrist well and is so light weight she says she doesn’t know whe has it on.

Flawless piece

I got this watch from my husband on Valentines(Feb, 07)… its a masterpiece. It looks better in reality, I was in tears when my husband opened box, even the box was beautiful. I love watches and have 7 name brand watches including Bulova but MOVADO experience is exclusive, its simple , elegant and graceful.
As this was surprise gift, later I asked my husband for packing and delivery and he said it was satisfactory. The watch comes with movado warranty card and amazon care instruction. For perfect fitting, I had to take the watch to a local jeweler to have couple of links removed. But please take it to certified personnel only.
